WTF!

For forklaring, sjekk et par av innleggene under :-)

Excuse my French here, but some times it really IS WTF! in my house (if you aren't familar with the expression, please google it - he, he). What I have doodled down on the layout should explain the title: " Listen up, kiddos. If you seriously can't find any other place to put this filty car body than on top of the stack with clean, folded clothes, you might concider cleaning up this plac. Grhmp! "

The body belongs to an RC car. RC is the hottest topic in our house these day, have a look at some previous posts to find out why!

If you wonder how I got the idea to the fabolous design on this layout, I must admit sketch #109 at Skissedilla, got my brain spinning. Please head over and give them some love!

Bzzzzzzzzzz

This week we had had the most beautiful weather: sunny, no wind, qiute warm for April. And I have had the whole week off! Hubby has worked hard in his new shop (see two posts below)and me, I have been stuck with the kids.

On Thursday hubby went golfing, and I took my boys for a bike ride. Man, I have hardly biked in ages! Luckily DS8 isn't the fastest biker, so I could follow them, and I wasn't completely wrecked when I got home.

Our goal for the bike trip was to visit a farm named Ekeby, about 3km from our house. They have a restaurant/coffee shop, sell farm products and they have goats, African Boer Goats. Honestly, the boys weren't very much interested of the goats, but they was excited to test the electric fence, to find out if straws conducts electrisity or not.... boys!

This layout is my take on Get Picky's sketch challenge #7. I have flipped and turned it around to make it fit my photos. Please head over and leave the Get Picky ladies some love for providing the scrapping world with such a lovely sketch :-)

Winter is over!!!

We have had the most wonderful weather for the last week: sun, 12-16 degrees C, hardly any wind. I even had a bike trip with my boys - OMG I haven't biked in years - and I survived.

This winter has been long and cold and I am happy to not have to scrap any more winter layouts for at least six months! So with these three layouts, made with MyScrapBooknook's April kit (Echo Park papers, the For The Record Collection), I say Good Bye Winter and Welcome Summer!

Any man's dream job?

The April 15th challenge at Once Upon A Sketch is a sketch + this journaling criteria: Your journaling criteria for this challenge is to write the reason you chose to scrap this photo (e.g. to remember this moment, to remember someone, to send a message to someone, because this photo makes you smile, the photo shows a personal achievement, your child's milestone etc. etc. )

The criteria was easy to make this time: My hubby started his own RC shop last Thursday. This is something he has wanted to do for ages, and when he got the opportunity, he grabbed it. I don't know what it is about men/boys and RC models, but according to my kids he must have the best job ever.

Journaling (translated to English): "There aren't many photos from the adult family member's working days in our albums. But it isn't every day dad opens his own shop with RC cars, planes and boats, "all" boy's favourite toys, so this deserves a special page! Rygge Shopping Mall April 14th 2011"

All materials except buttons from MyScrapbookNook's April kit.

Thank you for stopping by. You have no idea how much I appreciate it!

DIY Clouds etc / Gjør-Det-Sjæl-skyer osv

You may have noticed – clouds are still hot in the scrapping world. You find it on papers, embellishments, you can get stamps and punches. But what if you want one and don’t have the said equipment – what do you do? DIY! It’s super simple.

I have made an tutorial on how to do it. You find it here, on the Nook Forum

And this is what the cloud look like on a layout (materials from the April kit, MyScrapbooknook)

In the same forum, I have another tutorial this month. I often make my embellies myself, and in this tutorial you will learn how to make the circular embellies shown as on the layout below (April kit MyScapbooknook).

So, what about you, do we find any DIY on your cards and layout? And where do you get your ideas?

Highly inspired by myself and yesterday's tag, I have made one more. Making creatures of circles and ovals works so well, and it's amazing what you can make.

Yesterday I used mostly materials from the
Myscrapbooknook's April kit, today I have used the March kit.

Nytelse er... /Indulgence is...

Indulgence is:

  • laying on your back in the sun feeling the sun heating your body, not having to worry about work, getting up in the morning when you want to, having all the meals served, not thinking about grocery shopping or dishes; in general taking it easy, stressing off and just letting the vacation feeling grow. Hubby winter break 2011 on the Canary Islands

And if you wonder what's on the vertical chipboard border to the left:

I got the idea to this layout when I saw the one-word challenge over at Scrappehuset. Thank you for giving me the idea on how to scrap this photo!

I have journaled!!!

I struggle when it comes to journaling, I admit it. I think it's hard to find room for the journaling, my hand writing is ugly, I'm not sure what to tell etc etc - in other words I have lots of excuses :-) I also struggle with flowers on my layouts. I usually make masculine layouts, and for me flowers are feminin, no matter which color thay have, and I just can't make it fit. But I love when others do it! So I am going to challenge myself this spring. I'm going to journal more, and I have ordered flowers! And I am going to use the Once Upon A Sketch challenge blog to start me journaling: journaling is one of the criterias in their challenges, not using a sketch only. So here is my take on their April 1th challenge: The title means "Really lousy poker face" and the journaling is about the look DS8 gets on his face whenever he tries to lye - he has no poke face at all!

Thank you for visiting!

Peace love & juicy couture!

There was once a time when none of the kids cared much about what they were wearing, as long as it was comfy. They didn't care much about brands or colors, and had no idea that clothes are more than protection - that they are a part of your image (don't tell me it's not - I bet there are clothes you NEVER would were, as they are so NOT YOU). But that time came to and end - I'm not sure excactly when - and it hit DS11 first.

For him it's not just about staying warm and dry any more - it's also a lot about how he LOOKS! And as a parent I struggle and try to figure out the balance: I refuse to spend my whole salary on stuff that makes my kids, in their opininion, COOL ("Listen carefully, my son. It's not what you OWN that makes you YOU, it's who you ARE" blah blah blah), but I don't deny that buying cool stuff, once in a while, even for me, is a happy feeling. Can you relate?

I found the title over at Get Picky's March Inspiration Challenge #6. I was struck to all the structure, the colors (especially the purple) and the feeling of "the more the merrier".

But I don't have any purple pps or stash (I'm not kidding, it's true), I stink at working with layers and structure and there is no way I can force my self to overload a layout . But the title kicked started me to scrap about DS11 and his new passion for fashion :-)

Thank you Nikki and Tanya for once again getting me going with your awesome challenges! And thank you DT for providing us with fabolous inspiration!

Rampunge!

Simen was all excited when i saw that the souvenir shops (in Puerto Rico) sold slingshots; he had wanted one for a long time!

Mitt bidrag til Skissedilla's skisseutfordring nr 106.
My entry for Skissedilla' sketch challenge # 106

PS For my English speaking readers: I'm sorry I can't find the right English word to describe my son: Rampage? Brat? Think Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes. Or Dennis. How would you describe them?

Winter camouflage - I have it!

Eller rettere sagt - Scoobie har det :-)
OK, I admit it: Scoobie has it :-)

I often get comments that I'm good with titles on my layouts, that they are different, and that is so nice to hear. Do you want to know my secret, why I need to spend time and find the perfect title for my photo?

Because I'm lousy when it comes to journaling! I often don't have room for journaling on the layouts, it doesn't blend into the design, I don't know what to write, and my hand writing is ugly! It's so more easy to find a title which says it all to begin with! Have a look at the layout in this post: it could have had the title "Scoobie in the snow" and then I could have written some lines about how she blends into the winter landscape. But it still would express what I wanted to say.

So I decide the title first and build my layout from there. I sometimes wonder if I look upon the world with different glasses and that is why the title doesnt descibe what you first see in the photos.

This layout is made for Pia's "Have fun" challenge at Scrappehuset. All materials from MyScrapbookNook's March kit, except white CS and dymo.
