Poor Kitty!

Our kitty (well, actually she's not a kitten any more at 3YO, but she still acts like one) had been into a cat fight some weeks ago. She had gotten some bites, and they became infected (cat bites are the worse). There was no other solution that taking her to the vet to have her infections cleaned up, stitced and to put her on heavy atibiotics and pain killers).

I have never seen any cat beeing so sorry for her self.

All materials from My Scrapbooknook August Kit featuring Carta Bella papers and stickers, except twine, buttons and sprouts.

Journaling and other details

At first we put on her this super cute PJ to prevent her from biting her stitches, but that didn't work at all. She refused to take a single step with it on, so we had to remove it and out on her this acrylich screen instead. And she wasn't happy at all.

But after a week of recovery, and indoor grounding she is as good as new and ready for new adventure.
And I am broke!

This layout is made for the August Member Inspo Sketch Challenge at MyScrapbooknook. Please visit the challenge forum to see the sketch DT member Nicole Nowosad made from one of our members original layout.

CSI file #33 - Annual Trip To Sletter Islands

Every year, on the first weekend of August, the dads in our neigbourhood take the kids out camping on one of the islands in the fjord. No mums are allowed, and the kids really enjoy these low stress getaways.

A few of the things they do every year is to take the boat and go icecream shopping in a small coastal village. This year they chose to go to a place further away, and that is what the journaling is about on my layout.

I have played with modelling paste again :-)

Materials from here and there: A little Webster Pages, some Crate paper and
some findings from my drawer :-)

CSI Case file #33 had the perfect colors and ideas for my photo:

Here is how I solved the case:

The Scheme:
-All colors used, the light blue is just below the upper journaling strip

Evidence (You have to pick at least two):
- Liquid medium (Modelling paste)
-Wood/woodgrains (wooden buttons and "ornaments")
-White background (oh yes!)
-Bricks/metal (the light house charm, metal buttons)
-Nautical elements (Lighthouse, chipboard buttons, metal buttons with anchors)

Testimony
-Journaling about the coastal village Engelsviken
-Journaling strips

Thank you for stopping by!
I have planned to blog about every second day the upcoming week, so please come back!

16th Anniverary (and a card kit winner)

Two weeks ago my hubby and I celebrated our 16th anniversary. 16 years! And before we married we were partners for a few years, so if I sum up we have been together for about.... 18 years. Wow, that's a long time!!!

He bought me beautiful flowers on anniversary day and I made this layout where I wrote a few lines about how our marriage has been so far - just nice words, as it has been a nice time :-)

All materials from MyScrapbook Nook August kit, featuring Carta Bella papers and stickers.

The Petaloo flowers are colored with good old fashioned chalk

Have you ever scrapped a photo from an anniversary day?

---------------------------------

Last week I had a blog post where I bragged about my new DT spot at Cardabilities. And in that post I had a giveaway, a card kit. DS9 has played Mr Random and he picked Teresa as the winner.

Congrats Teresa! Would you please send me an e-mail to the adress in the right hand bar, and I'll send you the prize right away!

Cut it!

Today I'm having a Tecnique Class at Myscrapbooknook where I am I focus on cutting papers and making your own embellies - hence the title of this post.

I'm a paper junkie, I admit it, and I just love cutting.
Most parts of the embellies on this layout are hand cut from paper.

All materials from the Nook August kit featuring Carta Bella Beautiful Moments Collection

Do you want to know which paper I cut them from (one paper, three different embellies)? Please visit the Nook forum or Nook blog to see my ideas.

Happy cutting!

CSI file #32: Beaches in Corfu

Hello!

One good thing about beeing on vacation and out of the daily loop, is that we take lots of photos: it's something about doing and seeing stuff we usually not do or see, so it's easier to take photos. And I get lots to scrap *lol*

The Greek island Corfu has lots of lovely beaches as well other points of interest and an interesting history. When we visited the island two weeks ago, the weather was lovely, it was hot and the sea water had temperatures high enough even for me. So we did a lot of bathing and swimming - and we have tons of photos to proof it!

When I saw the challenge in CSI file #32 I knew how I would scrap and tell about the lovely beaches of  Corfu. Here is the challenge:

The color scheme and testimony challenge was just perfect for my photos. So here is my take on the challenge:

Some close up photos:

Journaling on tag in vellum envelope

One thing I really like about CSI is that they provide the readers with printable "Coordinates":

So if you don't have the perfect papers or embellies in your stash, print out the coordinates and use them.
If you look at my page you will find several of the elements on it. My background "papers" is from this set, printed on acetat, as well as starfishes and some other items.

If you want to know which parts of "Evidence" and "Testimony" in the challenge I used, here they are:

EVIDENCE (CHOOSE AT LEAST 2 ELEMENTS)
■stars - starfishes
something translucent - background patternes printed on acetat
wet medium - mist, modelling paste
vellum - pocket for tag
mesh, burlap, gauze, or similar element - gauze

TESTIMONY (CHOOSE AT LEAST 1 ELEMENT)
Document a beach trip (or other vacation if you've never been to the sea) - my journaling is about the differnt types of beaches you can find in the area we visited
Create a translucent pocket or envelope for your journaling - vellum pocket

Just for fun - here is a photo of my work in progress, after the modelling paste, gauze and mist was added, but before the photos and embellishments went up

The acetat backgrounds are more visible in this photo :-)

Thank you CSI for giving me the idea and necessities I needed to make this page. I know I will come back to you to find more inspiration and ideas!

Family Portrait

Hi!

Have you ever been on vacation (or somewhere else) when somebody sticks up a camera in your face, to sell the photo to you later on? It happened to us outside our hotel in Corfu - as so many places before that.

It's very, very rare my family get to take family portraits, so I grabbed the opportunity when I saw the photo was of a decent quality (ok, not of a very hig standard, but good enough). But I became a bit surpriced when the photographer printed out such a large photo. Hello, I haven't scrapped large photos in ages!

Anyway, here we are, the family:

Somebody should tell DS9 he gets double cheeks when he smiles like that!

I got the idea for this layout when I saw this week's sketch at the Basic Grey blog. Originally the sketch was designed as a two pager, but I chose to use only the left part of it.

Do you, like me, have collections you love so much that you refuse to toss out the scraps, or never get tired of it? I do, and one of them is the Basic Grey (BG) Hello Luscious. I just love the happy colors which shouts Summer! at me. I have used this collection on this page, and added some rubons from BG Origin, one of my other favourites.

PS, One wich the photographer would you use a better flash. See how much darker we adults become because we are further away from it? Not that I mind having a dark tan, but it looks a kind of weird...

Are you good at having family portraits taken?

Nook Card Challenge: Flower

Mondays and Wednesdays are card challenge days at MyScrapbookNook. It's Danni, Jessy and Shelley who runs them and I love playing along. For the last months I haven't been able to play as much as I wanted, due to "Life Happens", but as life has calmed down, I'm back in business.

For the month of September, I'm going to run all the Monday challenges, and I can't wait to share what you can do with the upcoming kit.

Yesterday was Wednesday, and this simple challenge was up: create a card with at least one flower

Here is my take on the challenge: a super easy card using papers and sticker from the August kit and Carta Bella Beautiful Moments:

The flower and butterflies are cut out from papers in the kit, the rose trim is also from the kit, while the bling brad is from a previous kit.

Please head over to our Message board or blog to see more inspirational cards from the same challenge.

OUAS August Challenge, Team B Reveal

Good morning!

First of all - thank you to all of you who have visited my blog lately. It means so much to me that you take your time to see me - and reading all the sweet comments always make my days!

Today is Team B Reveal Day at Once Upon A Sketch (OUAS). This month's theme is

Season (Winter, spring, summer, autumn)

and here is the challenge and sketch which goes with it:

We would like you to create a layout and interpret the theme "Season" however you like based on the following sketch. You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below. Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.
Ideas for journalling: current season in your part of the world, favourite season, seasonal traditions on your part of the word, a childhood memory, a summer romance, what summer/autumn/winter/spring brings for you, baby it's cold outside, summer loving, spring is in the air, autumn breeze, summer holidays, seasonal changes, etc etc. Anything goes ..

Here is my take on the challenge. Even though I love all our seasons, summer is my fav: long days, fewer clothes, kids (and adults) spending more time outdoors etc etc. This photo is taken in late June when we went crab fishing with my Swedish scrap friend Pysselpetra and her family.

Sponsor materials used: Imaginarium Designs chipboard: clouds, branch, butterflies

This is the first time I have used modelling paste on a layout, and I really loved how it turned out. I used  negatives from the chipboard as mask for the clouds directly painted on the backround paper.

Papers/overlay(Chipboard Alpha: Fancy Pants Beach Bum

Branch and butterflies are inked, the butterflies also given a touch of glimmer mist. The chipboard clouds were given a coat of modelling paste before slingtly inked with grey ink.

Do you want to give this challenge a try? Please head over to the OUAS blog for the complete challenge, to meet our GD, see this month's prizes and our sponsors, and to explore the DTs super inspirational examples.

See you there!

Kissed by the sun - and more stuff added to my giveaway

Hello.

If you look for my Authentic Doilies Giweaway, please go to this post.

I spent last week in sunny, lovely Corfu, Greece. I can not describe how wonderful it was to finally see the sun and take some time off with the entire family. It was hot, very hot, but the beaches were lovely, and the sea water warm enough even for me, so I survived. We did some sightseeing, too - off course - and we have taken houndreds of photos I'll scrap over the next month(s).

But let's start with a picture of me, soaking up sun on the lovele beach of Sidari on the north coast of the island. I admit it, the English in the title is not the best - it was supposed to be "Kissed by the Sun" but when I hade glued down Kissed and by the I dicovered the big alpha didn't contain any more S-es. And the first line could not be removed without tearing the papers, so I had to think out something. Therefor the lousy English *lol*

While I was away, the August MyScrapbooknook Kit arrived at the post office, and I picked it up when we got home. Isn't this kit a beauty, featuring Carta Bella papers and stickers, trim and alpha? At first sight I thought it was all about pink, but after having a second look, I found lots of masculine colors, too. So my next page with this kit is a boy page :-)

As I promised in my giveaway post, I will ad more items for every 10 comments. A few more items are now added in the actual post, so please have a look if you haven't visited already.

Have a happy weekend, or what is left of it, people!

Authentic Doilies Giveaway

Have you noticed the doilies on these two layouts?

Would you like some?

I got a lot from my mum a while ago. She had tidied up in and old aunt's house, and she found a lot of authentic doilies, embroderies and laces. Auntie was the kind of person who would cut off any piece of lace or embrodery of an outworn piece of clothe, so there was a lot. More than I probably will use.

So I want to share some of this pieces with one of my readers, a giveaway.

Here is what I am going to give away, as well of some vintage brads and flash cards, and  a few other surprises:

Click on images for a better view of the details

As white as snow!

My legs!

We have had the worse summer, ever. I heard a report the other day that said June-July 2011 there were 41 days with temperatures higher than 20 degrees celcius. This year we have had 20 only! Brrr.... There hasn't been much rain, actually, just cloudy, windy and cold.

Two weeks ago we had a sunny day, and I took off to the local beach - just to discover it was a cold wind there. And I left after less than half an hour... But I did take a photo of my pale legs so I could document my feeling about this summer.

All materials except doilie from MyScrapbooknook July Kit, featuring MME. Alphas from previous kits

Close up photo

Made with the sketch at MyScrapbook July Sketch Challenge

But guess what! As you read this I'm sucking up sun at lovely Corfu, Greece and eating lovely Greek food!
I so need it - this spring has been so rough on us so a total escape is very welcome.

------------------------------

Did you notice the doilie on this layout? It's an old, authentic one. I have more of them in my posession, and I want to share some of them with one of my readers. Please come back on Sunday to see all about  this giveaway!

Thank you for stopping by :-) What's the weather like in your part of the world?
